He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord. (Proverbs 18:22)
When God had formed Man from the dust of the ground, He breathed into his nostril the breath of life and man became a living being.
The Lord God Created Adam from the Dust of the Earth
The Lord thereafter planted a garden Eastward of Eden and placed the man that He had formed to tend and keep it.
And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”( Genesis 2:18).
So out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them.
God did this so that in the process of naming the animals Adam could see which animal was suitable to be his companion.
So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. (Genesis 2:20)
God did all this to create a desire in man of having a suitable companion. Every young man or woman reaches a place that they want to have a suitable companion in their lives. Someone that they tend to spend the rest of their lives with.
But sometimes the problem arises that finding a suitable companion is a great challenge in this ungodly generation. Believers desire is to find a godly partner someone that would be compatible. Someone that they share the same faith with.
Marriage is a serious commitment that needs the two people coming together to have common interests and love for one another. Just the same way prophet Amos said that; Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? (Amos 3:3).
Adam could not find a suitable companion among the animals but the Lord God loving Adam decided to and caused him go into a deep sleep and out of his rib created a woman who would be his partner.
God Provided to Adam the Partner He Needed
A young man or woman who is trusting God for a marriage partner should go into a period of “deep sleep”. This is a period of prayer and contemplation of seeking the wisdom of God for guidance in finding the right spouse for them
It is a period when one shuts down their senses and feelings and lets God direct them to the right partner. God wants everyone seeking for a lifetime partner to reach a place where Adam had reached, a place of saying let all my wisdom go and let God take control over my decision making.
This is what we call acknowledging God in everything we do. As God is very interested to take part in every decision we make in our lives. God loves each of us purely and cares about all aspects of our lives.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
The Same God Who Provided for Adam’s Needs Provides for Ours
The Lord God knows the right partner who is suitable for us. So just as Adam had found he was not able to find a suitable companion among the animals but had his needs provided for by God who loved and cared for him, those desiring the right partner also should also trust in God for providing for their needs.
I believe Adam after naming all the animals and finding no animal that was a suitable partner for him, acknowledged God and God out of love created for him a woman.
When you want to date and after looking around there seems to be no suitable companion for you, it is the right time to seek the guidance of the Lord God in prayer and He will direct you to the right paths where you will meet your suitable companion.
