In His Timing: Discovering God’s Plan While Waiting for ‘The One’

Reflection for the Day:ย “In His Timing: Discovering God’s Plan While Waiting for ‘The One'”
Biblical Insight:
In the book of Genesis, we meet Abraham and Sarah, a couple who knew a thing or two about waiting. God promised them a son, but years turned into decades, and still, they remained childless. Despite the delay, Abraham “did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God” (Romans 4:20).
We can imagine the questions that must have filled their minds. “When will God fulfill His promise?” “Have we done something wrong?” “Has God forgotten us?” Yet, amidst the questions and doubt, they held onto hope. They believed in God’s promise, even when it seemed impossible. And in their old age, Sarah gave birth to Isaac, proving that God’s promises are never too late.
In our own season of waiting for a spouse, we can learn from Abraham and Sarah’s story. It’s natural to wonder when or if God will provide a spouse. However, this waiting period is not a stagnant time of life, but a season of growth and deepening our relationship with God. It is in these waiting periods that our faith is both tested and strengthened.
Applying the Scripture:
Instead of seeing this time of waiting as a delay, see it as a divine opportunity for personal and spiritual growth. Spend this season drawing closer to God, discovering your purpose in Christ, serving others, and preparing yourself for future relationships.
You might reflect on these questions:
- How can you use this waiting period to deepen your relationship with God?
- What are the areas of your life that need growth and maturity in this season?
- How can you serve others and glorify God in your current season of life?
Our Prayer Together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your perfect timing, even when it doesn’t align with our own. Help us to trust You in our seasons of waiting, just as Abraham and Sarah did. Grow our faith and patience, and let us find our purpose in You during these times. Use this season to mold us, prepare us, and draw us closer to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
